Wedding Color Idea: Magenta

So often when selecting wedding colors, one thinks of the “safe” colors: white, pink, light blue, and so forth. However, sometimes taking a risk with a bright color can pay huge dividends in style. These are some great ideas on how to make one very bold color – magenta – work beautifully for your wedding.

Magenta is a vibrant bright purple with a pinkish undertone, and it is very upbeat and optimistic. As bold as it is, you will find that magenta is remarkably versatile, whether you are the sort of bride who prefers to match or the sort who likes to mix things up. Magenta can be ultra-girly, regal, sophisticated, or tropical; it all depends on how you use and which accent colors you select. It is also a departure from the standard pastel wedding colors, which will give your festivities an instant shot of personality and uniqueness.

For a chic yet cheerful wedding color palette, pair magenta with shades of brown and bronze. The bright purplish hue makes the brown less somber, while at the same time, hints of espresso will bring the magenta down to earth. The bronze is simply elegant. This color palette will work wonderfully when executed in rich patterns with a soft luster: grand damasks, chic stripes, and moires would be ideal. Choose bridesmaid dresses in a combination of magenta and brown (a stripe would be lovely in a taffeta) with bridesmaid jewelry sets made in bronze colored crystals. Magenta orchids tied with espresso satin bows would be magnificent for the bouquets.

Brides who are having a tropical wedding will find magenta to be a natural. It makes a big splash when combined with orange and yellow for a wedding with an island flavor. Magenta chiffon dresses would be stunning on the bridesmaids for a beach wedding. Let them go barefoot and add pretty anklets to their bridesmaid jewelry sets. Sprinkle magenta, orange, and yellow flower petals down the sides of the walkway to define the aisle for your ceremony on the sand. To keep all the vibrant colors from becoming overwhelming, add accents in a pure white, such as white draperies hung on an arbor at the altar and white linen suits for the men in the wedding.

If you want to use magenta as the basis for a very girly wedding design scheme, mix it with numerous shades of purple. A range from dark plum to pale lilac will combine marvelously with the vivid signature shade, especially for the bouquets and centerpieces. Transform your reception space by draping great swathes of sheer magenta fabric over the ceiling and add crystal chandeliers in very feminine designs over each table. Add hints of a fresh green to temper the magenta and purple explosion. For instance, create centerpieces using magenta and purple orchids, French tulips, and other romantic blossoms, and then line the inside of a clear vase with yellowish-green leaves for a modern contrast. The effect will be truly spectacular!

Magenta is not for the timid, but if you like color, no hue will be better for adding a splash of vibrancy to your wedding. Use it with abandon to create a truly bold and unique wedding design. Your magenta wedding will be unforgettable.
