Tips to Ensure HIV Positive Dating is Positive!

Dating of any sort could be likened to playing a game of poker. It is possible to use good bluffing tactics to win a few hands and have some fun. However if you are serious about your HIV positive dating game, then you need to learn to play by the rules and use them to your advantage in order to win the ultimate jackpot. Likewise, bluffing or faking it, will win you a few dates, but the fake you will eventually be found out and the fun will end.

The reason people embark on first and even second dates is to find out more about the other person. Therefore, it makes sense that the person going on these dates needs to see the real you and not some made up fake you. Your date will be determining whether they like you enough to want to chance further dates, this is done in many ways, but if you are bluffing your way through the dates and not being honest, then you are actually wasting both of your times.

HIV positive dating and dating in general should be fun, for both parties. The aim is not to see these first dates as anything other than two people meeting up and seeing where it goes next. Having too high expectations will make it harder for you to relax and enjoy yourself. This added pressure will mean you will also have a much greater chance of doing or saying something to muck up the dates, resulting in you blowing it.

Nerves are par for the course, and are very likely if you have not been HIV positive dating recently. By doing some deep breathing exercises, you should be able to calm them. If this is not the case, then a small drink may be in order. Ensure it is only one! You do not want to turn up tipsy, get a headache or be unable to concentrate. Also, brush your teeth afterwards or suck on a strong mint to disguise the smell. It is not good to attend your first date smelling of alcohol!

In order to further enhance your HIV positive dating experience you could:

• Try to go somewhere that has some form of subtle background distraction, for example nice cafes, bars and small restaurants. This will then help in any uncomfortable silences and means you can chat without straining to hear.

• Never take your date anywhere where you are likely to bump into people you know. They could resent you for it as they may feel they are being vetted.

• Plan the date in advance, with a backup plan if you can, just in case for any eventuality. Nevertheless, try not to show that you have planned it. Instead appear casual by asking if they fancy doing this or that in a spontaneous manner.

• At some point before the end of the date, take your dates hand or put your hand on their arm and create a tender physical connection between you. This will make it easier later on.

HIV dating is all about getting to know new people. Going through first dates is a bit like having to play numerous poker rounds before you are dealt anything which makes you want to progress to the next and subsequent rounds. Keep being yourself and playing the game, you will eventually find your patience pays off and you can honestly win the prized jackpot.
