Tips on Planning an Engagement Party

You have been recently engaged and you want to share the great news with others. One way to do this is to have an engagement party. This should be done very soon after becoming engaged so you can share your happiness with everyone. First, you have to choose what date to have your engagement party on. It depends on whether you want to have the party and the wedding closer together or if you want it sometime in between. Usually it is nice to have the engagement party very soon after you get engaged.

You also have to decide what type of party you would like to have. You could have something simple such as an intimate affair at home or something at your favorite restaurant or it could be a barbecue or outdoor party.

During your engagement party you will want to play a few games that you have selected ahead of time and have great party music too. There are many good websites which have great engagement party games. Party games can be used as an icebreaker; they will let everyone get a chance to know each other. Especially for all the relatives and friends of both parties that are meeting for the first time.

Food is an important part of your engagement party. If you are going to have a potluck type of gathering make sure you coordinate all of the food that contributors are going to bring so you don’t end up with duplicates. If you’re not a good cook you can always have it catered. This is a time when you’re getting to know each other’s family members. You want the party to be as relaxed and easy as possible.

Pictures are a good idea to help remember this special occasion. You don’t have to hire a professional photographer you could have friends and families take pictures and use video cameras. You can also supply inexpensive disposable cameras so everyone can participate in taking pictures.

Whatever you decide the theme of your party will be is the way that you should dress. You can consider certain colors or whether it’s going to be casual or glamorous. Most people prefer it to be a relaxed easy-going affair and like to dress casual. No matter what you decide the theme is going to be you should make a note on your invitations of what attire is appropriate. That way everyone will know whether it is formal or casual.

It is a good idea to enlist friends and families to help out with your engagement party. This makes it less stressful for you and easier for you to have time to mingle with your guests. You want to be organized to make sure that everybody knows exactly what they should be doing. This way you will be able to relax and enjoy yourself.

Your engagement party is also the perfect place to ask the people that you are going to have as your maid of honor and best man if they would like to be a part of your special day. This is a perfect time when everyone is together and will make the party even more special.

It doesn’t matter what you decide to do for your engagement party whether it be a formal or casual affair. Just remember to keep it as simple as possible, so you will have time to relax and enjoy all your company.
