Throwing a Fantastic Wedding Reception on a Budget

Your wedding is an exciting and once-in-a-lifetime event. It is understandable that you hope for the day to be full of joy and celebrating.

One of the most important aspects of a memorable wedding day is the type of dinner or reception you choose to host afterward. The reception is commonly accepted as a party in which you and your guests celebrate the union of you and your spouse.

This is when you take part in the different traditions that go along with a marriage ceremony, including the bouquet toss, cutting of the cake, and the first dance. It can be a great way to thank your family and friends for the support and celebrate the anticipation of your future lives together.

The costs of a reception center, cake, dress and tuxedo, food, flowers, decorations, and all of the other aspects included in hosting an event like this can add up quickly and take a severe toll on your bank account. However, it is possible to throw a glorious party without having to go into debt.

The most important preparatory step is to create a budget and outline including the things you need and how much money you are able to spend on the occasion. If you have trouble doing this yourself in a planner or on a spreadsheet, there are a number of different websites that can help you diagram and document your nuptial expenses.

Once you have done this, decide which aspects of the affair are most important to you and organize them accordingly by the percentage of your budget you wish to spend on them. If flowers are really important to you, then a lot more of a percentage of your spending limit to your bouquets, boutonnieres, and centerpieces.

If the food is what you hope to impress your guests with, scrounge funds on a couple of other things that are unimportant to you, and increase your dinner allotment. Doing this ensures that you will not spend frivolous amounts on things that you do not care very much about.

Then, you can spend more of your time, focus, and money, on the parts that interest you most. You will be satisfied and happy with your reception if the parts that you love most meet up to your expectations.

One of the greatest expenses of a wedding is the venue in which you hold the dinner or reception. Many reception centers offer all inclusive packages that save you planning time and money.

Try researching historic halls or buildings that include dinner, a cake, and equipment with the price of renting the location. There are sure to be a number of different packages available, depending on your wants and expectations.

The time of day in which your celebration occurs also has a huge factor on price. If you wish to save money, try having a brunch or afternoon reception, as opposed to one in the evening.

If having three-course dinner for your guests is not as important to you, try serving only appetizers and drinks along with your cake and other desserts. Dinners can be a huge strain on your budget, and it is easy to overestimate the amount of guests.

Many meals go uneaten, and the money you spent goes to waste. If you still wish to feed your guests a substantial amount of food, try more of a buffet-style dinner where they can pick and choose their own meals.

A great way to save money on decorations is by finding a picturesque location. Buildings, churches, courtyards, or gardens that are already beautiful by themselves will not need much decorating.

If you do wish to do a good deal of decorating, try making some of them yourself, as opposed to purchasing a large amount of them from a craft store or wedding warehouse. Place cards, centerpieces, and decor that is handmade will give your wedding a personal touch and will be just as beautiful as anything that you spent more money on.

You can also enlist the help of family members to do so. It will be a method of bringing your family and your new in-laws together and be a way for you all to relax before the big day.

Cutting costs on your reception can be simple if you know which aspects you care most about. Focus on the importance of the day, not how luxurious of a party you are able to host!
