When you met her in person, the fireworks erupted. The chemistry was amazing and the sparks were flying. You had a great night together and looked forward to more.

So, the next day you text her and tell her those things. You say she was amazing and you can’t wait to see her again. You wait for her response. Dead air. Nothing. Nada. Zip.

You thought maybe she was busy, so you texted her again. Her response was vague and ambivalent, something along the lines of, “Yeah, talk to you later.”

A lot of guys are left scratching their heads wondering what they did wrong. Things were hot between them in person but fizzle as soon as they get apart.

Here’s what went wrong, my friend. Texting. When you first meet a woman, you should only use texting to do one thing: set up your next meeting in person. You need to keep it short and simple. Don’t blab about how much you like her or look forward to seeing her again. Keep that all under your hat or you will scare her away.

Your goal in texting when you first meet a woman is for one thing and one thing only – making that next meeting in person happen.

Once you’ve been dating for a while, you can start playing with texting to flirt and build attraction, but this is only after you have established some type of relationship. Never use texting as an attempt to build attraction with someone you’ve just met. You’ll fall flat on your face.

Your goal is to arrange to see the girl in person.

And when you make those arrangements, you need to be firm and confident. When you decide to text her, say something like this: tell her you are setting up plans for your week and have either Tuesday or Thursday available. Do either one of those days work for her to grab a drink with you from, say about 8 to 10 p.m.? (Because you ostensibly have plans afterward.)

Be confident and give her those two options by text. If she replies that neither day works for you, you respond in this way:

“That’s too bad. We’ll have to shoot for sometime next week then.”

Be busy. Don’t be readily available. Only use texting to set up that next meeting. Be confident and a bit vague. You don’t need to explain your busy life and plans. You just need to tell her you have these two options available.

Most times, if she is interested, she will make one of those days work for you. If something unusual crops up (say she’ll be out of town on business that entire week), you can give her two more options for the following week. If she balks at either one of those, then it is time to move on.

Trust me, if a girl is interested she will meet with you. Give her two options and keep your initial texting relationship to just that. Save the attraction building or flirting texts for later, when you know each other better.
