Rustic Charm of a Country Wedding

If you feel inspired by the rustic charm of a country wedding, why not consider flower arrangements that bring the romance of the English countryside to your special day. Thankfully, after all the time you put into arranging your flowers, they will be covered by wedding insurance too.

If the image of a meadow appeals, you could even try presenting your flowers like traditional stooks of grain. A stook is a bundle of grain stalks that can stand upright, and this upright position will look more unusual than a traditional vase or bouquet arrangement.

Whether you opt for traditional or less conventional flower arrangements, however, wedding insurance can offer you financial protection if your floral décor is damaged before or during your wedding.

If you are trying to count your pennies, cheap wedding insurance quotes don’t always offer the best cover and you could be better off saving money in other areas. Smart floral solutions such as stooks can really cut down on cost without compromising on the overall visual affect.

Set in a pleasing circular arrangement, stooks are beautiful in themselves. Handmade in ripe or green wheat or in barley, they create a look that is both sculptural and rustic. However, if you use a stook’s fundamental structure but add wildflowers to the arrangement you can bring a sense of spontaneous, natural beauty to your wedding venue.

By using a generous variety of meadow grasses for the base of the arrangement, you can keep the unfussy feel of a stook. You can then add your choice of colourful wildflowers without losing the look of the countryside: poppies, cornflowers and Queen Anne’s Lace tend to be popular choices. One of the main things about this sort of arrangement is that it doesn’t look overly precise or labored so it is far easier to achieve yourself than most florists’ bouquets.

One of the other advantages of stooks is that they’re able to stand alone which means you can move them from the ceremony to the reception or from the dining area to the dance floor with great ease. Some couples even arrange the stooks around the edge of their marquee, creating the impression that the wedding party is encircled by a summer meadow!

You may be under the impression that that if you opt for wildflowers your choice of blooms will be limited, but in fact the plants that grow in Britain’s meadows are rich and diverse; over 50 species of wildflowers and herbs can live in one square metre of grassland. These fulsome, natural plants add an earthy vibrancy to any wedding day décor.

Although wildflowers and hardy grasses tend to be especially resilient, you still don’t want to take any chances on your wedding day. Wedding insurance can offer you financial protection should your flowers be damaged up to 36 hours before the wedding and up to 24 hours after the reception whilst being stored by you or a close relative. Knowing you’re protected by your wedding insurance, you can relax fully and enjoy the romance and authenticity these flowers bring to your big day.
