One of the biggest mistakes that many men make in their dating lives is to make the assumption that they don’t deserve a woman who treats them like a king.

Too many men act grateful that a woman talks to them. They are thankful she gives them her phone number. They are astounded when she wants to get intimate with them.

This is the wrong attitude, guys.

When you act like this, you give all the power and control to the woman. Fine, you say, you don’t care if she’s in control as long as you get what you want. Well, that’s not how it works.

It works like this — as soon as she has the control and power, she loses interest in you, and so you end up getting nothing.

If you want to maintain her interest and attraction over the long term, you need to carefully guard and preserve your self-confidence and your alpha male attitude.

You need to constantly remind yourself that you are deserving of an amazing woman in your life and that she is lucky to have you. If that seems too cocky for your style, then at least think of it this way: the two of you are lucky to have each other.

Placing a woman on a pedestal or acting grateful that she wants to be with you, is a sure fire recipe for disaster.

Here are ways to avoid it:

1. Set boundaries and expectations in the beginning of the relationship and don’t waver or give in on them. For instance, you might say that you do not tolerate people who are not punctual. Tell her if she can’t be there on time, you are leaving and can catch up with her later. Keep this rule throughout the relationship. Don’t go soft and head down that slippery slope. It’s all about power and control.

2. Keep a life separate from her. Don’t obsess and spend every waking second either with her or thinking about her. Go to great lengths, if necessary, to maintain your own life and your own friends that you had before you met her. Look at her as complementing your, not determining your quality of life.

3. Maintain a bit of mystery about you. Don’t tell her everything. Leave some things unsaid and unknown. Knowing everything about you kills attraction and is boring. It doesn’t mean you have to lie to her. What it means is you keep some things to yourself, especially your emotions. Only reveal these at critically special or important moments.

4. Continue with your self-improvement efforts. For instance, don’t get lazy and quit going to the gym or start eating like a pig and living like a slob. Continue the behaviors that attracted her to you in the first place. If you let yourself go, your fall will hurt even more once the relationship ends. Continue doing what makes you feel good and builds up your self-esteem.

If you remember some of these basic self-care tips, you will find you can remain captivating and attractive to your woman for the long haul.
