A Citrus Colored Wedding Palette

The citrus colors of yellow, orange, and lime green make a fresh and lively color palette. They would be beautiful colors to use for a spring or summer wedding, especially one which is outdoors. These are some great ideas on how to design a gorgeous wedding using a citrus color palette.

Yellow, orange, and lime are all pretty colors on their own, but used together they are even better. They are just so upbeat and would lend a very cheery attitude to a wedding and reception. The citrus colors are easy to incorporate into the various elements throughout your wedding, beginning with the flowers. Create bouquets using lemony yellow roses, lime green hydrangeas, and orange sweet peas for bouquets which are sweet and romantic. If you prefer a more modern style, try tightly packed clusters of carnations in your citrus colors fashioned into pomander balls instead of traditional nosegays. A fun option for a casual wedding is gerbera daisies in yellow and orange, tied up with lime green gingham ribbon.

The bridesmaid dresses for a citrus colored wedding could be done in one color with an accent, or each girl could wear a different color from your palette. If you decide to have all of the bridesmaids in one color, a yellow dress accented with an orange sherbet color sash would be lovely in organza. If your preference is to have each attendant in a different color, tie the wedding party together by having them each in the same dress style. Sheer fabrics like organza and chiffon in softer tints of yellow, orange, and lime will flow very pleasantly, but the effect could be too garish if done in a shiny fabric like satin. Custom bridal jewelry made from Swarovski crystals in your three colors would be a great finishing touch. For the bride, have custom bridal jewelry created which intersperses a few colorful crystals with white pearls for a more subtle version of the citrus palette.

Certainly, real citrus fruit will have a role to play in decorating a citrus colored wedding. Graceful footed vases or bowls filled with fresh lemons, limes, or oranges look surprisingly elegant. The vases can then be topped with floral arrangements for the centerpieces, or the fruit can stand alone as the table décor. Small white fresh orange blossoms are a traditional wedding symbol (they stand for fertility), and would look absolutely lovely scattered around a footed silver bowl filled with fresh oranges. Shiny green lemon leaves could also be included in centerpieces which feature lemons.

The perfect dessert for a citrus theme wedding would be a lemon wedding cake. Fresh and light, lemon cake is ideal for a warm summer day. Spread it with fondant icing (which will not melt on a hot day like buttercream), and decorate it tiny marzipan lemons, oranges, and limes. A few clusters of white orange blossoms will be the perfect finishing touch to a divine citrus wedding cake.

There are many other ways in which you can use citrus colors for your wedding. There are the table linens, favors, invitations, and even signature cocktails to be considered (lemon drop martini, anyone?). With such a fresh and pretty color palette, your wedding is sure to be grand success.
